Towards the end of the beta process, and what a long process it was,
I decided that I would indeed incorporate ASCII / Picture commands (playback, support, etc.)
into Mind. I have included very few ASCII text files. Mostly cause the majority are lame.
ACSII / Pic Playing, in general is lame, but it's a nice addition. Whenever you wish to add
ASCII to Mind's collection, simply copy it in raw form into c:\smoke\ASCII. Simple as shit.
Raw Form is just the ASCII picture, no numbers (like those needed on line 1
by mIRC's $read variable), no ; or # comments, nothing but the picture. The text must be
in DOS Text file format, with the extension .txt. (Note: here is a quick example of how to
copy easily: copy filename.ext c:\smoke\ASCII\*.txt - this will copy filename.ext, whatever
it may be, into /ASCII and give it a .TXT extension. Mind uses .txt to simplify playing). daz
it.
To play:
type: /pic
this will bring up a file dialog box with c:\smoke\ASCII\*.txt showing. select a picture
and hit OK. Simple.
(from popups):
PopUp Main | Channel | Play ASCII
same as before.
*** Note On Viewing ASCII: To view ASCII correctly, you need a fixed proportional font (ie
not a True Type font or one that has different sizes and spaces for every charactor). This
is because every line is dependent on matching up with the lines above and below it to make
the picture correctly. Mind's default font, and most other fonts, will not display ASCII
100% perfect, but it will be still readable. To view your and other peoples ASCII,
try using Mind with a fixed size font, like Courier or System. Note: Sending and playing
ASCII / Pics will not be affected by any font.
